People First® Websites
Capitol People First
A local chapter in Sacramento who has fought for the rights of people with developmental disabilities to live outside of institutions and in the community freely. Recently they settled a lawsuit named Capitol People First vs. DDS. To read mor about the settlement click their name to go to the DDS info website.
San Diego People First
They are a strong regional
and local chapter in the San Diego Area (Region 13). Check out
their website! They are one of the chapters that have recently
been trained in the PFCA Self-Determination IPP Buddy System.
Yuba-Sutter People First
One of our local People First Chapters in the greater Sacramento
region (Region 3).

Formally Protection & Advocacy, Inc. Please see this website in regards to the most current information regarding the Capitol People First vs. DDS lawsuit. Though PFCA opted not to legally join this lawsuit we did file an Amicus Brief ("Friend of the Court") as we believe all people should be free from unnecessary institutionalization.

Project
TEAM
A grant funded by the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities
to support Best Practices in transition from school to career. The grant, Project
TEAMS (Transition, Employment, Advocacy, Mentoring, Self-Determination), offers
training and support to high school students with developmental disabilities
ages 14-21, their parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers and counselors.
